Hugo Boss wants to massively expand and grow online business
The fashion retailer Hugo Boss wants to expand its online business significantly. By 2022, online sales are to be increased from 151 million euros in 2019 to more than 400 million euros, Hugo Boss announced on Wednesday in Metzingen. This is to be achieved both via the company's own online shop and via the concession business with partners.
"The growing importance of online business has become even clearer in 2020. Our industry is confronted with an unprecedented situation and the purchasing behavior of customers is increasingly shifting from stationary to online," explained Matthew, the manager responsible for the e-commerce business Dean according to dpa with a view to the corona pandemic. Hugo Boss therefore wants to expand his previously rather poor internet business. Online sales currently only make up a small part of Hugo Boss’s revenues. In 2019, the group generated sales of just under 2.9 billion euros - around 20 percent of this through outlet centers.
More sales through expansion
The fashion retailer hopes for an increase in sales primarily from the expansion into new markets, as a message from Hugo Boss shows. So far, the company has served 15 important markets with its online shop, including the USA, Germany, Great Britain, France and China. In June, the fashion retailer opened its virtual shop for a further 22 markets such as Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Poland and Portugal. 24 additional markets are to be opened up in 2020. He mainly relies on the American continent. In addition to Canada and Mexico, the central online shop is also to be opened to other American countries.
The online shop will be revised accordingly, tailored to "local needs", and the national language and local payment methods adapted. The delivery is to take place from central warehouses in the USA and Germany.
In the second quarter, the company's own online business increased again strongly, it said. It will be the eleventh quarter in a row with clear double-digit growth. Hugo Boss wants to present his figures for the months April to June on August 4th.
